Artificial Sky Before Second Phase
Artificial Sky Before Second Phase
From testing my first 1:20 sketch model I could begin to see how the lux levels would affect my building. As I assumed the top floor took 5000lx which is what I intended as the plants which my client Gordon Ramsay need is lots of sunlight. Furthermore on the second level the reading read just above 1000lx which is enough to carry out daily routines such as preparing food. Finally the bottom floor, where I wanted to create an almost secluded, escape from the media room read a reading of around 400lx which is ideal for that space.
However, even though the plants need a large amount of light to grow, the training/ sports area is on that floor. For my second phase I might look into some kind of shade/roof where my client can train without over heating.

Artificial Sky After Second Phase
After the testing from the previous artificial sky, I decided to develop and overhanging platform in which Gordon could train and remain cool and not overheat. From the artificial sky study, with the overhanging platform the lux levels read 4000lx which still allows the area to be kept cool along with sunlight for the plants. Also in my design i implemented a slat system in the roof which can be opened and closed depending on how harsh the light is. Also the natural shape and design of my over hang allows the bottom two floors to become shaded at certain times of the day.
